The Guildford Community First Responder scheme has been set up to save lives in Guildford.
CFRs are volunteers from the local community who have been recruited by the South East Coast Ambulance Service. We respond to 999 emergency ambulance calls at the same time as the ambulance, if the call is local to us and the situation is one for which we have been trained, including patients with chest pains or breathing difficulties (including choking and allergic reactions) or who have suffered a cardiac arrest.
Because we are based in the community, we often arrive before the ambulance, and start treatment. The early arrival of a CFR can and often does make the difference between life and death: without treatment, survival rates for patients in cardiac arrest decline by 10% per minute.
Guildford Community First Responders play a vital role within your local community.
